About KLACA

History

Founded in March 2017 in Tacoma, Washington, Khmer Language Arts & Culture Academy (KLACA) was established by devoted parents and community leaders. Their commitment led to the creation of the Khmer Language Arts and Culture Academy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

KLACA began with a group of parents who wanted to preserve our Khmer heritage and ensure it lived vibrantly in the hearts of our younger generation. It was born from community conversations, planning sessions, and the belief that our culture deserved space, visibility, and celebration. We started with a small, but mighty team of volunteers, providing modest Khmer language and dance classes. Over time, KLACA became more than a cultural program; it grew into a safe place for learning, belonging, and pride. KLACA is a place where our youth can discover the richness of who they are.

Our mission is to open doors to learning and cultural experiences, empowering every member of our community to grow, explore, and thrive.
